The graphics are flat out gorgeous, with noticeable meticulousness having been given to character design, stage design, and general visuals. A variety of new items have been added alongside all of the most familiar ones, and tracks very extremely in terms of length and difficulty. Maps now include segments that involve paragliding, and vehicles are fully customizable, allowing players to find their perfect, unique settings. And for the first time, players are given the option to experience a more intense speed - 200 cc. Choose between tons of familiar faces as you race on tracks both old and new.
Mario Kart 8 offers a significantly larger amount of content than many of its predecessors, with a total of 32 tracks and 36 characters. With Mario Kart Wii previously being seen as one of the best titles in series, Nintendo definitely had expectations to live up to with their next home console release in the series. Five more entries were added.Mario Kart 8 is a summation of all of the best elements of previous iterations in the series, with the addition of fantastic, novel gameplay mechanics that feel like they should’ve always been a part of Mario Kart. With so many great games in the Wii U store, a list such as this couldn't be limited to just ten entries.
Updated on Apby Michael Colwander: The clock is ticking toward the closure of the Wii U eShop along with the 3DS eShop. Players may wish to experience some games on their Wii U that would be hard, or in some cases impossible, to come by otherwise. The Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance, and even the original Wii all have fantastic games available on the Wii U eShop but no representation on the Nintendo Switch. When that eventual full closure will take place is still anyone's guess, but it's clear that things are beginning to move in that direction. The digital storefronts are not closing just yet though. Nintendo recently announced they will no longer be allowing certain payment methods in the 3DS and Wii U eShops in early 2022.
